Welcome to my 1st blog post. Today is June 17, 2019. I am Isabella Jaya Munder and am 16 years old. I am starting this blog & website to show you that we can grow our own food in city apartments.

I started to develop my green thumb in the summer of 2017. I enjoy cooking and after buying pots after pots of basil for my recipes, I felt beckoned by their beautiful smell to grow my own basil. I had such a fun, awesome & therapeutic experience from growing my first family of basil that I started to venture into planting other types of herbs. Now, 2 years later, I have tried my hands on growing vegetables and fruits in soil planters & pots cumulating in hydroponic microgreens and sprouting. After 2 years of urban farming, I felt the need to publish and share my notes with you hoping to inspire you to urban farm. If we all play a small part in growing our food, we can collectively put a dent in our environment and our health positively. It results in us buying less of the supermarket plastic wrapped produce. Plus, we end up eating pesticide & chemical free-produce that is so much better for our healths. Also, it is a great skill to have; what if you get stranded in Mars and have to grow your own food?

How I came about with the Logo and Name?

Since I started this gardening project in Hong Kong, I used the Hong Kong skyline as the backdrop for my logo. The leaves with roads on them symbolizes "Farming meets in Urban Cities". As for the name "I M Urban Farming", I was intending it to mean "Isabella Munder is Urban Farming" with a wish that you join me in this meaningful movement.
